Read the essay from **TIME 100 - Martin Luther King**. As you do, respond to the following questions Why does the author feel that whites owe King the greatest debt?
The author feels this way because he thinks that whites have now realized how foolish they were too think that race made a difference in status because of Marting luther King jr. It is because of king that the U.S. is known as the "Free world" without extra remarks about slavery. Also, South Africa would have remained unnoticed to America.
Was King "the right man at the right time"?I think that King was the right man at the right time because he was the person that got America to realize that the color of someone's skin did not mean they were different from anyone else. He helped people realize personality is what counts, not race. Also, if it were not for him racism and segregation would have continued probably and it would have taken much longer for a big event to happen. Since there was no leader that seemed to not be willing to step up at the time the MLK jr. did.
Would King be upset with the current use of his most often quoted line? Why or why not?I think that he would be somewhat bitter about the use of the quote. I think that he would like to hear about people using it in the context of freedom and desegragation. Though, I doubt that he would like people using it to mock him or saying that it was too controversial. He did it for the sake of freedom for African Americans.
